Republican gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro on Friday once again criticized Governor Andrew Cuomo over the parole of convicted cop killers like Herman Bell -- and he argues policy at the Parole Board must change.

“It is absolutely inexcusable that anyone who kills a police officer would find their way back into society,” said Molinaro

Molinaro, at the state Capitol, said it was especially troubling that parolees like Bell, who was convicted in 1971 of killing two police officers and released earlier this year, can vote in the upcoming election.

“It is a slap in the face to New York City police officers and it is a slap in the face to those who continue to live with horrific loss,” said Molinaro.

Molinaro has pushed the parole issue with fellow Republicans like Sen. Marty Golden as Cuomo seeks to flip the Senate to Democrat cocntrol.

“He, I'm sure, wants nothing more than to have one political party govern the state of New York,” said Molinaro. “They should be afraid, they should be very afraid. This governor has consumed a huge amount of power unduly. He has been provided an opportunity to spend enormous amounts of power with no oversight.”

Cuomo spokeswoman Lis Smith, in a statement, said, "Molinaro and Golden know that all the members of this independent board were confirmed by Golden and his fellow Senate Republicans, and that we’ve openly disagreed with several of its recent decisions — yet they persisted with this cynical stunt."

Cuomo, meanwhile, has also hammered Molinaro for votes he took while in the state Assembly against gun control legislation.

“I spent my time in the state Assembly reading legislation and when I saw there was a detail that needed to be corrected or addressed, I voted against the bill or debated against the bill,” said Molinaro.

Molinaro has struggled in both the polls and fundraising in recent weeks. He reported only $200,000 in campaign funds this week compared to Cuomo's $9.2 million.
