ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Monroe County Democratic Committee made its nominations for state and local positions on the ballot this November.

Monroe County Democratic Party chairwoman Jamie Romeo is running for the 136th Assembly District seat currently held by Joe Morelle, who is one of several Democrats running to replace the late congresswoman Louise Slaughter.

Romeo says everyone running in the primary for the 25th congressional seat wants to uphold Slaughter's legacy.

Romeo also says it's hard to ignore rumblings of a "blue wave'' sweeping across the country in the midterms.

"It's an opportunity," Romeo said. "It's one of things that there's a lot of talk of a blue wave, some people are fearful of a blue wave, but the reality is that it's an opportunity, but it's only going to come if we actually are talking to the voters and letting them know of those opportunities, making sure they have the right information to get to their polling places and information about the candidates."

Other democratic candidates running for the 25th congressional seat include Rachel Barnhart, Adam McFadden and Robin Wilt.

The county Republican committee chose Doctor Jim Maxwell as its candidate for the seat.
