ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Conservative media analyst and University of Rochester graduate Larry Kudlow has accepted a job as the Trump administration's top economic adviser.

Kudlow replaces Gary Cohn as Director of the National Economic Council.

Cohn, a former Goldman Sachs executive, resigned earlier this month over internal disagreements about President Trump's decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

Kudlow served as an informal economic adviser to Trump during the 2016 campaign.

He is a supporter of free-trade and firmly opposed to the sweeping tariffs on steel and aluminum imports the president signed last week.
