An interim superintendent has been named in the Rochester City School District. 

The district's Chief of Communications Carlos Garcia confirmed Dan Lowengard accepted the job offer on Friday. He previously served as interim superintendent in 2016 but stepped down after suffering a stroke. 

Linda Cimusz, who was Lowengard's interim, will become his chief of staff in the new administraition.

Superintendent Barbara Deane-Williams is set to retire in January after two years with the district. The newly appointed positions will become official at the next board meeting on December 20.
