A Rochester man will spend the next 20 years in prison for attacking a city police officer with a knife.

Leon Roach was previously convicted of assault, attempted assault and strangulation.

Police say Roach struck Officer Amber Grosch in the chest with a knife during a September 2017 domestic dispute on Louise Street.

Her bulletproof vest prevented the knife from causing serious injury.

In addition to the attack on Officer Grosch, prosecutors say Roach stabbed another person and strangled a third. District Attorney Sandra Doorley called Roach a violent individual with no regard for life.
