On a sunny December Sunday afternoon in Webster, residents were hanging up Christmas tree lights and decorating the outside of their homes.

“Absolutely gorgeous blue sky and you have to take advantage of it in Rochester,” said Kathy

Price-Ratcliffe says holiday décor is a great way to welcome family coming from out of state.

“Our family from Virginia is coming — my son with his wife and their two children," she said. "Santa Claus is a big, big deal; my husband and I are trying to make our house look very festive for Santa Claus.”

Others neighbors taking advantage of the sunny weather share similar reasons to get festive.

“This is primarily for my grandchildren," said Janet Wisniewski. "They are three and under and they’re at that age where they’re just filled with wonder so I can’t wait to see their little faces.”

While wrapping lights around the shrubs in the front of her home, Price-Ratcliffe says it’s a better time than ever to decorate through a not quite wintry day.
