Media and information firm, Thomson Reuters is closing its Rochester location.

The company will be closing its office located on East Broad Street in downtown Rochester. A spokesperson for the company released a statement saying the closure is to help the company run “more efficiently.”

“This disciplined approach sometimes includes reviews of our real estate portfolio to best balance our internal resources with the needs of our customers in a highly competitive environment.”

The company will release 304 workers in February while some staff will remain at its Broad Street headquarters through May. The cmpany's downtown operations will shutter in September. 

Nearly 500 people worked at the location at one time.
