The second-largest YMCA in the nation is being built in Pittsford.

The three-story, 140,000 square foot facility will be almost three times the size of the current Y on Jefferson Road.

“It’s amazing, it’s truly awe-inspiring.  I think about what we’re going to be able to do for the Brighton, Henrietta and Pittsford communities as we move down the road,” said Jeff Cogan, executive director of the Schottland family branch.

Philanthropists and community leaders Peter and Susan Schottland donated $3.5 million to support the new Y branch.

The Pittsford Y will offer a wide-variety of health and wellness options, including a 15,000 square foot medical facility, recording studio and expanded aquatic center.

It is expected to open fall 2019.
