State and local officials were out at the Greater Rochester International Airport on Wednesday to announce the completion of the renovation project.

It's a project that County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo says is not only an investment in boosting the airport’s image, but in the people of Monroe County.

"The investment here today is about investing in people,” she said. “This project alone, think about this: 882 men and women were able to work on this project. They’re supporting their families, they’re investing in our community, they’re strengthening their families, they’re strengthening the economy.

"Day in, day out, they were here using their crafts, using their skills, to make this airport even better.

The airport project is comprised of a new canopy covering the roadway for departing passengers, a new security checkpoint, a new market featuring Rochester- and New York-inspired foods, along with renovated restaurants in the terminals and lighting features at the gates to help the hearing impaired.
