With Election Day right around the corner, two of the candidates for New York's 27th Congressional District debated the issues in front of students at St. Joe's Tuesday.

One candidate, incumbent Republican Congressman Chris Collins, did not appear.

Democratic candidate Nate McMurray and Reform Party candidate Larry Piegza discussed issues ranging from foreign policy, to the Me Too movement and the second amendment.

The students who hosted the debate were disappointed that Collins wasn't there.

One student said despite some of the panel not being able to vote they were excited to see Democracy play out.

“We need to continue to bring the issues into the forefront, which was going to be lacking if Chris Collins didn't show up,” said St. Joe’s senior Adam Kiedrowski.

The school invited Congressman Collins to the debate, but neither he nor his staff replied.
