ROCHESTER N.Y. – JCPenney has teamed up with the service centers at the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology to provide professional apparel to students at a discounted price.

The event allows students to purchase from an array of suit jackets, pants, dresses, sport coats, skirts, blouses, ties and shoes.

The private event was featured at JCPenney stores located in Marketplace and Eastview Mall on Sunday.

The event accommodated hundreds of students looking for advice on what to wear for career fairs, internships, and job interviews.

“We need to look professional in the workplace and women need to be taken seriously, when we’re there and it’s easier to portray that when you dress the part,” said Courtney Farbman, RIT interpreting American Sign Language major.

Faculty, staff and alumni from the colleges, along with members of the JCPenney team, were on-hand to offer insight, not just in fashion trends, but how a suit should fit, an appropriate size to buy, how to tie a tie and more.

Through Sunday’s event students with a valid ID received a 40 percent discount, allowing men to find a stellar look for under $200, and women under $100.
