SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: When the medical examiner's office released its latest data on the toll opioid abuse was taking in their community, the Gates Police Department wanted to do something more than just put out the numbers.

"We were sitting around the office discussing those numbers," said Gates Police Chief James Vanbrederode. "We realized we had to put a human face to that number."

They've turned a van into a memorial to the victims, featuring faces of some who have died after struggling with opioid use, along with encouraging messages that help, and recovery, is possible.
