WEBSTER, N.Y. — New details about that that car plunged into the Irondequoit bay late Saturday night as the driver is now facing criminal charges.

Webster Police charged 36-year old Owen Hedges of Hilton with DWI  and ticketed him for speeding.

Police say Hedges did not stop at the barriers on the Irondequoit Bay Outlet Bridge with is currently closed for vehicle traffic and drove into the water. 

Webster Police say Both Hedges and his passenger were not hurt and were able to swim to shore

Scuba crews and cranes had to help police pull the car out of the water. It was then towed away.
