IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Summer went out with a burn Monday with the heat index hitting triple digits.

That made the party at Marge’s Lakeside Inn that much hotter, even if it did signify the end of summer.

Bar owner Francine Beth said the Labor Day party has been going on for more than 30 years and it’s a tradition the establishment enjoys as much as the patrons.

Many of the partygoers didn’t want to miss the music from featured performers Shades of Grey.

“I know the guys in the band very, very well and I love them all," said Michael Ferguson of Farmington. "It’s a great way to spend the Labor Day.”

Others didn’t want to pass up one more day on the beach.

“It’s hard to stay inside when it’s so beautiful outside,” said Maxwell Harvey-Sampson of Rochester.

But that doesn’t mean the bar didn’t take precautions.

“It makes it a little difficult," Beth said. "We gotta make sure the umbrellas are out and stock up on the bottled water.”

Others just got a little creative.

“I jump in the water, that’s what I do. Anywhere I go, if I’m on my bike, I jump on the water," Lovette French of Holly said. "That’s how I live my life. Jeans and all as you can see, jeans and all.”

After all, it is a holiday.

“We’re gonna celebrate no matter what," Ferguson said. "If it was snowing out here we’d still be celebrating, so it’s all good.”
