ROCHESTER N.Y. – To improve neighborhood patrols and foster more engagement with community members, the Rochester Police Department is adding a new office and community center.

“The community and police need to come together,” said Rochester resident Pam Davis. “There needs to be more face-to-face so that they know us and we know them.”

The city agrees. On Monday night, Mayor Lovely Warren and law enforcement officials discussed the RPD Lake Section and Neighborhood Service Center.

The center would be on the northeast corner of Lake Avenue and West Ridge Road if the community supports the idea. A proposal would be presented to the city council, which would begin the design and construction process.

“In case we need to meet with the lieutenant and service center — it would be nice to have a spot dedicated for the community,” added Michael Visconte.
