Batavia High School football teammates Antwan Odom and Raymond Leach appeared in the same court room for the first time Monday.

Odom, 18, is accused of stabbing Leach on August 4.

Leach was the only witness to take the stand in Batavia City Court. The two are star players on Batavia High School’s football team.

According to Odom's attorney Frank Housh, Leach testified that he threatened Odom on Facebook before going over to his house to fight him.

Housh adds the two were arguing because Leach believed Antwan stole $60 from him.

Odom is facing a felony assault charge.

“Mr. Leach testified that he knocked (Odom) down after hitting him as hard as he could at least four times and then he testified that he was a victim of a stabbing despite the fact that no weapon was ever recovered,” Housh said.

Odom also appeared in court Monday to appeal his bail. The amount was lowered from $50,000 cash bail to $15,000 by Genesee County Judge Charles Zambito.

Despite living in the same neighborhood and attending the same high school, a stay order of protection has been issued.

The Batavia School District will now have to make other arrangements to accommodate the two players.

“We’ve dealt with this on prior occasions where both a defendant and a victim attended the same school. This is not the first time this has happened,” said Genesee County District Attorney Lawrence Friedman.

The Batavia School District has decided not to comment on whether they will allow Odom or Leach to play this season. The case will now go to a grand jury to decide whether to indict Odom on the felony assault charge.
