ROCHESTER N.Y. – A drug recovery approach leaves tears of laughter — perhaps another way to cope through drug addiction and recovery.

Renetta Thomas makes a living laughing about her, and others’, struggles with addiction.

At Boulder Coffee Saturday evening, she took that commitment to help people climb up from rock-bottom through stand-up comedy in ‘The Roast of Grandma ReRe.’

“If you can get someone to laugh about their problems they probably won’t have their problems at the end of the conversation,” said Thomas.

A percentage of the proceeds from the comedy roast go toward evening programs at Sojourner Home, which is also a resource once used by Thomas.
