The Puerto Rican Festival is in full swing and it was no more evident than with this morning's annual parade downtown.

The parade stepped off from the Liberty Pole at 11:00, making its way down Main Street. Covered in the red, white and blue of Puerto Rico, revelers and vehicles marched all the way to the festival site at Frontier Field where local bands and restaurants are set up.

It's the 49th year of the festival but the first since Puerto Rico was slammed by Hurricane Maria, forcing thousands of Americans to leave the island.

Many of those people came to New York and at the festival. Organizers thanked Rochester's Ibero-American Action League for helping to resettle Puerto Ricans displaced by the storm.

The festival meanwhile continues there until 11 and again Sunday from noon to 7:30 p.m at Frontier Field. Admission is just $10.
