CALEDONIA N.Y. – Dozens gathered in Caledonia to remember three lives cut short in a Wheatland crash five years ago.

Candlelight spread out across the Caledonia-Mumford Central Elementary School's front lawn.

Taylor Binnert, 21, Christopher Peterson, 20, and his 17-year-old sister Emily Peterson were killed in the crash.

In attendance, JoAnne Hammond and Michaela Murphy were seriously injured in the crash back in 2013.

“We are holding the candlelight vigil tonight because they had a candlelight vigil right after the accident originally and Michaela and I obviously couldn’t attend because we were in the hospital,” Hammond said.

The Cal-Mum graduate said the number 16 has an even deeper meaning now, Hammond and her husband welcomed into the world daughter Addison Taylor on June 16, named after her best friend in her memory.
