More than a dozen acres along Colby Road in the town of Ogden burned and the threat of smoke and fire forced officials to shut down Route 531 this afternoon.

The farm equipment was heavily damaged with an estimated cost of tens of thousands of dollars.

No injuries have been reported.

A total of 14 different fire departments worked in battling flames. Officials say the fire spread quickly because of dry conditions.

Battling the fire was particularly challenging given the weather.

"At this time we have no injuries,” said Bill Hallinan, assistant chief with the Ogden Fire Department. “As you know the heart index today is about 100. So we've been trying to work through our members, only working for about an hour so that's forced us to extend our resources to assist with the rehabilitation and release of those firefighters."
