ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The man who was arrested in January after attempting to bring a gun inside of the Monroe County Hall of Justice was sentenced to six years in prison.

Deputies say Robert Salters, 35, tried to bring a .25 caliber handgun into the Hall of Justice for a scheduled court appearance without declaring the weapon.

Deputies observed the gun on an x-ray machine and the suspect was immediately taken into custody.

Six rounds of ammunition were found in the magazine. The gun was in Salters' pocket wrapped in a plastic bag.

In addition to the prison sentence, Salters was also sentenced to three and a half years post release supervision.
