GATES, N.Y. — For the next 70 days a section of I-390 southbound will be reduced to two lanes.

Construction will be ongoing between Lyell and Lexington Avenues leaving people to add time to their commute as a part of the Interchange Project. They’re working on the bridge that goes over Trolley Boulevard.

After approximately two and a half weeks traffic heading northbound will be reduced to two lanes along that same stretch of I-390. They’ll crossover and use the travel lanes on the southbound side. The New York State Department of Transportation says this phase of the construction will last for 3 and a half weeks. Northbound traffic will reopen to three lanes back to its normal traffic pattern following this phase.

Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Two or more speeding violations could result in a license suspension.
