ITHACA, N.Y. -- Democratic candidates looking to win their party’s nomination in the 23rd Congressional District got one last chance to sway voters.

A public forum and debate was held at the open space in Ithaca.

Candidates spoke on a number of issues including the recent issue of kids being taken away from their parents at the border, which all agreed is an issue that needs to be solved.

The candidates also found common ground on the issue of healthcare.

The Democratic committee teamed up with the League of Women Voters, who spoke about the importance of holding events like this.

“One of the league's goals is to give the community to be informed voters. And so, we hold candidate forums throughout the year when there's, when there is an election coming up, because we think it's really important for people to hear from the candidates and all of them, not just one or two,” said League Of Women Voters President Kay Sharp.

The primary is set for Tuesday, June 26.
