ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Fan favorite Duel of the Dishes Night is back at Frontier Field as the Rochester Plates get ready to take on the Syracuse Salt Potatoes.

Ahead of Thursday night’s game, Red Wings players took time to give back to the city and their fans.

Before the fun rivalry with the Syracuse Salt Potatoes, the team made a pit stop in an effort to give back to the community.

“The fans come out and support us every night when we’re playing at home so to give back and show the support to them is equally as important and it’s  fun for us and for them to see us out there and to come to the games and cheer us on,” said Dietrich Enns, Red Wings pitcher.

“It’s great serving and getting to get out in the community and see some of the people who come out to our games and supporting us and get eye to eye with them. It just makes you feel like more than a baseball player,” said Jake Reed, Red Wings pitcher.

The two rode along with Meals on Wheels volunteers to deliver food around the city. Thursday's meals on wheels menu had a unique twist to coincide with the Duel of the Dishes — they delivered their version of the garbage plate.

“It’s always fun for the fans of New York to have the rivalry of what’s the better dish and what’s the better team, so it will be decided tonight on the field,” added Enns.

The Plates won the Duel of the Dishes 2-1 and got the eight foot golden fork trophy and bragging rights of whose food is the best.
