ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A vibrant woman who impacted countless lives — that's how friends and family are choosing to remember Kelly O'May.

O'May was fatally stabbed inside her Caroline Street apartment last Friday. Her funeral was held in Avon Wednesday.

After the service, dozens of people gathered outside O'May's apartment for a candlelight vigil.

Among them were members of Sirens and Stilettos Cabaret, the burlesque troupe for which O'May hosted shows since 2013. Members of the troupe say O'May was their enforcer and the one who held everything together.

Her parents say she had a bubbly, outgoing personality and was always there for her friends and family when they needed her.

"You never had to ask twice, she was just there and now there's a hole left that, unfairly she was taken from us all," said Arlene O'May, Kelly's mother.

"The brightest stars burn the quickest," said Thomas O'May, Kelly's father. "We have no idea, we're still finding people, we're still being approached by people that are in tears and hugging us. How important she was and that will just keep going."

O'May's boyfriend Robert Norry has pleaded not guilty to second degree murder charges in connection with her death.

He is being held without bail.
