A Genesee County man has been arrested for allegedly setting his girlfriend and an apartment on fire.

Batavia police and firefighters were called to a house on Maple Street just before 1 a.m. Friday for reports of an active fire inside the residents. A woman told officers she believed her children were still inside.  They were later found at a neighbor’s house.

The woman told police she was arguing with her boyfriend, Plush Dozier, 22, when he set the apartment and her on fire.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.

Dozier was arrested without incident and is charged with first-degree arson and second-degree attempted murder.
