ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Father Tracy Health and Wellness Center's new facility is now open on the city's north side.

Father Tracy led a procession down North Clinton Avenue to celebrate the opening.

The facility aims to serve the Latino community. Not only does the center connect people with health services, but also social justice services.

Rudy Rivera, the steward of the wellness center, says the facility is a convenient solution to some of the neighborhood's problems.

"Now people don't simply have to go out of town to figure out where to get. A lot of the addicts are right across the street. They come straight to us and we navigate, with the help of others, to get them into care," Rivera said.

"It's about giving someone the hope and that keeps us in our recovery and that keeps us fighting because that was us," said Stephanie Forrester, Hope Dealers BTC CEO. "A lot of us were living on these streets, buying our drugs on these streets, right outside these same doors. Being where we're at now, it's possible and that's what we want people to see."

Rivera says the facility is one of the first buildings in Rochester to be named after a local priest.
