ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Five people were taken to the hospital after police say a suspect they were pursuing caused a chain reaction crash Rochester Saturday night.

Police say the crash involved four vehicles including the suspect's, at Joseph and Clifford Avenues around 10:30 p.m.

Officials say it all started when police stopped a vehicle on Rt. 104 near Hudson Ave. and saw a handgun on the floor.

When officers ordered the driver out of the vehicle they say he instead hit the gas, leading police on a chase that involved both State and Rochester police.

The pursuit ended when officers say the suspect crashed into a taxi, which was then pushed into two other vehicles.

Charges are still being determined at this time.
