ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The New York State Office of Children and Family Services has placed limitations on the operating license of the daycare center at the Carlson Metro-Center YMCA in downtown Rochester. It could lead to revocation of the license.

A YMCA spokesperson says it stems from an April 23rd incident where a child opened a gate to an outdoor playground.

The child ran and was intercepted near the street. She was returned safely inside.

The YMCA issued a statement, saying in par:

“The safety and security of the thousands of children in our care is our highest priority. Still, the YMCA always strives to do better. We have heightened our internal training, and are partnering with New York State Office of Children and Family Services for additional onsite assistance and to ensure we are in compliance with all state regulations."

According to officials, 263 children attend the daycare.
