Dozens and dozens of customers are watching the trash pile up outside their homes in Wayne County.

Residents in Lyons, Savannah, Clyde and Geneva say Feher Rubbish Removal has been missing pickup days for weeks.

Now, a former worker is speaking out and the Village of Clyde is taking action.

Since our story ran Sunday, Clyde Mayor Jerry Fremouw says some streets had pickup later that night. Others still have not.

Residents are concerned about the smell, insects and vermin.

A former employee, who identified himself as Chris, spoke to Spectrum News Monday. He says he only worked for the company for four weeks and quit about a month ago.

Chris says when he came on, the trucks were brand new. Then everything started to change when the new trucks were returned and replaced with “very old rear load trucks.”

“They were run down and didn't work right. And they were nowhere near as fast for picking up the trash. And they didn't have enough of them. They sent six back and they only got three to use,” he said.

He says he reached his breaking point when he was forced to pick up trash in a smaller truck.

“They had me trying to pick up trash in an F-150 with a cage on it they used to use if somebody missed a pickup or something. Rather than send a big truck back, they would send the F-150. They got so low on trucks they were sending guys out in that,” he said.

Chris says with so few trucks, the company couldn't keep up with demand, and other employees left right around the time he did.

Mayor Fremouw says he is working of filing complaints with the Attorney General's Office for the village. He's also encouraging customers to file complaints individually.

Feher Rubbish's corporate offices in Syracuse did not immediately return a request for comment.
