ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The City of Rochester is looking to fill dozens of potholes on city streets, now that the cold weather appears to be over.

City leaders got a demonstration of a piece of equipment that could speed up the process. The equipment melts the area around a pothole, making it easier to scoop out loose gravel, then crews can patch the clean hole.

For the crews on the streets, it's a never ending battle.

"We had over 120 inches of snow, and we know what happens with the snow, the plows, the salt," said Norm Jones, Rochester Environmental Services Commissioner. "It does damage to out streets. And right now we're aggressively out, seeking out potholes, dealing with complaints and making sure that we're making roads safe for everyone."

To report a pothole, call 311 and give a detailed description of where it's located.
