WATERLOO, N.Y. — Fire officials say six people have been displaced after a gas leak caused an explosion at a home on Moore Street in Waterloo.

Crews first responded to calls for an explosion with injuries at the home around 5:30 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found the home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters say a plumber working on the house at the time was taken to the hospital to be treated for burns. A firefighter was also transported with injuries as well.

Officials say the residence was a natural gas home but also had additional gas tanks used for cooking. Investigators are still trying to determine the source of the gas leak.

None of the residents of the home were inside at the time of the explosion.
