The 8th annual Autism Walk took place Saturday at Eastview mall. The goal was to spread awareness of those living with autism.

Hundreds came out to participate in the event.

Organizers say there are more than 10,000 people in the Rochester area with the developmental disorder.

Besides their goal of raising around $40,000, they want to increase support for those with autistic family members.

"Our goal is to bring all of the autism providers together in our community under one roof so that families can have this accessible support and resources educationally, after school, housing, and employment, for their children and adults who have autism,” said CP Rochester President Mary Walsh Boatfield.

Happiness House, CP Rochester and Rochester Rehabilitation, all joined together to make the event happen.
