ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- For the Pelican's Nest waterfront restaurant in Charlotte, last summer brought unprecedented flooding. It seems that this year, mother nature is against them once again bringing below average temperatures on opening day. But owners say that won't stop them from celebrating the start of the season.

"A lot of people fail to realize that we have this glass enclosure and it is nice and comfortable inside here, so the weather really isn't an issue," said owner Terry Testa.

But it's hard to deny that weather wasn't a factor back in 2017 when the restaurant was forced to close for several days due to flooding.

"It never came in the restaurant but our parking area was impacted so we had to make some adjustments," said Testa.

The restaurant is hopeful that rising lake levels won't force another shut down, but say that they are taking preventative measures. Testa says that Friday was the first time in 24 years where he's seen snow on opening day.
