A technology teacher at Penfield High School has been arrested for allegedly providing alcohol to a student.

State Police say 46-year-old Eric Brewer was arrested and charged with Unlawful Dealing with a Child.

According to court paperwork, Brewer befriended a 17-year-old transfer student.

The student told officials that she would also go to his classroom during lunch breaks and free periods.

The teen said they mostly discussed life events, but Brewer eventually brought up sex.

In late September, the paperwork states Brewer invited the girl to his home, and that's when she said he gave her alcohol and then they had sexual intercourse.

The student has since graduated.

The age of consent in New York is 17.

The Penfield Central School District  released a statement following the arrest:

"Last night, the NYS Police informed us that technology teacher Eric Brewer had been arrested and arraigned on charges of unlawfully dealing with a minor.  The District is cooperating fully with the investigation and Mr. Brewer has been placed on administrative leave. Counselors are also being made available to any students or staff members who may need support."

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should contact the State Police at (585) 279-0144.
