The wrongful death lawsuit brought against NASCAR driver Tony Stewart by a North Country family is almost resolved.

Stewart and the parents of Kevin Ward Junior were in Utica for a settlement hearing Thursday.

Ward was killed while racing at Canandaigua Motorsports Park in 2014.

He was walking down the track after colliding with Stewart's car, in an apparent attempt to confront the driver. The back right tire of Stewart's car hit Ward.

The two parties reached a confidential settlement.

The judge said he would dismiss the case once procedures regarding Ward's estate are finalized.
