BROCKPORT, N.Y. — The 7-year-old boy stabbed to death in Sweden last week has been laid to rest.

The Brockport community gathered at Fowler Funeral Home to remember first grader Abraham Cardenas Wednesday.

His mother, Hanane Mouhib, is accused of using a large kitchen knife to brutally kill the boy.

Mouhib has been indicted by a grand jury on at least one felony count. She was charged with second degree murder last week.

The Sheriff's Office says Mouhib called911 on two occasions before her son's death to report mental health issues.

Monroe County is now reviewing the case, including any potential involvement by Child Protective Services.

The New York State Office of Children and Family Services says it will also look into the case.
