Rochester police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash last month.

Patricia Ann Sprague, 54, of Irondequoit is accused of hitting and killing Nilsa Rivera on March 2 in the 200 block of Clifford Avenue near Lill Street.

Police were able to use surveillance video from a nearby store that showed a vehicle that did not stop after hitting Rivera. The Kia Sorrento was recovered within a few days of the crash.

Rochester police say Sprague turned herself in over the weekend.

On Monday morning, she pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death at her arraignment in Rochester City Court.

"Things aren't always as they appear. This is a case we've been working on for quite a while. And this was a time we did turn ourselves in, but there is a lot more to this case," said Teo Siguenza, defense attorney.

Sprague is due back in court on Friday.
