WATERLOO, N.Y. — Wednesday’s windstorm left one Waterloo family without a home and also destroyed a car.

Greg Clemenson was at home making dinner Wednesday evening when a tree landed on top of his truck and trailer. Although debris from the roof fell on his head, he was not injured in the incident. His fiance, Rebecca Sawtelle, discovered the devastation when she came home from work.

“I was trying to take it in and picture it in my mind how bad it was before I got there, but first of all I was just glad that Greg was okay. When I pulled up, I saw it and I balled. It’s not something you think about,” said Sawtelle.

The truck is totaled and the trailer is a complete loss and was condemned by the Seneca County Codes Department.

“We’ve been here for three years and we actually just paid off the trailer, so we were only going to be paying lot rent. When I came home and saw the devastation I was like alright, we’re going to have to start all over again,” added Sawtelle.

“My parents have been wonderful. Lots of family across New York State is reaching out. It’s amazing when you go through something like this and all those people come forward to say we’re here for you and if you need anything, let us know,” added Sawtelle.

The park has another trailer available that Rebecca and Greg are looking into. They say they’d like to stay in the area and are hoping to be in a new place within a week.

“It’s sad, but life goes on, we’ll be okay, we’ll get through it,” added Sawtelle.

GoFundMe page has been set up for anyone interested in providing assistance toward a new home.
