Amateur hockey players and local media personalities will lace up their skates and hit the ice tomorrow to raise money for a great cause.

The Gilda's Club of Rochester will host its 5th annual Crosscheck for Cancer hockey game at the Bill Grays Regional Iceplex in Henrietta.

The event was founded by Gordon Potter who was inspired by the support his father got from the community when he was diagnosed with cancer several years ago.

Since then, Gilda's Club has been inviting families to watch some hockey and have a chance at winning some fun raffle prizes.

"Events like this are great for Gilda's Club because they raise, not only funds, but awareness,” said Johanna Lester, who is a part of Gilda’s Club of Rochester. “So it's touching the family demographic, which really ties into who we support since we support everyone who’s, been touched by cancer - as well as their whole social and support network."

Tomorrow's event kicks off at 4 p.m. and tickets can be purchased for just $5 at the door.
