VICTOR, N.Y. — After months of pushback and delays, the Fishers Fire District will not dissolve into the Victor Fire District.

This came after illness, issues with regulations and debt concerns on Victor's part — which pushed the vote back several times.

However, Tuesday night, the five Fishers Fire District commissioners voted 3-to-2 against merging with the neighboring district.

"Because they have $2 million, I think in that range," said Jack Marren, Victor Town Supervisor. "And there was a sense from the commissioners. What was Victor bringing to the table? They didn't have money and reserves. If anything, they had debt."

The state would have given more than $250,000 in grant money to help the two merge.
