On Tuesday, the organizers of the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival announced the lineup for the 17th annual event. The nine-day festival is slated to run from June 22 to June 30 and will feature more than 1,500 performances.

Among the headliners are Seal, Alison Krauss, Bela Flek & The Flecktones, Boz Scaggs, Jill Scott and Lake Street Drive.

The festival organizers say all of the venues will be within a 5 minute walk from each other, with Martin Luther King Jr. Park being used for the very first time to host Pokey LaFarge on June 29.

"You try to emulate, but you also try to be creative in your own way. That's why this series is so unique with what we have,” said Marc Iacona, Executive Director of the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival. “We have a UK series, we have a Nordic series, all the way to the headliner and Grammy award winners. There's actually a theme to each one of the club passes that you go to, if you haven’t noticed, and people will hone in on those venues every year."

"We've had thousands of bands submit materials,” added John Nugent, the Artistic Director. “All of the major booking agencies come to us with their rosters. So my job is spent telling more people that I'm sorry because I can't give them a performance opportunity, but it's just incredible how many people have an interest in coming to perform here."
