Nearly 200 individuals raced up Corning Tower’s 42 flights made up of 809 steps in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis.

CF is a genetic disease that limits breathing and causes persistent lung infection.

Treatment may vary depending on disease strength and type, which is why the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation seeks to learn more and treat patients better.

David Tromp has participated in the CF Climb since 2003 and earned his 10th overall victory Saturday.

"Fortunately we don't have CF in the family, but it is painful for all the family members and all the medications and treatments they have to go through,” said Tromp. “It is difficult on all the families and we're here to honor those families as well as raise money for the foundation."

Tromp completed Saturday’s climb in 4 minutes and 57 seconds.

The Annual CF Climb is in 30th year, and all proceeds go to the Northeastern New York Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
