MAYVILLE, N.Y. -- Newly-elected County Executive George Borrello outlined his proposed changes to further evolve the county's economic development strategy. Borrello has tapped Mark Geise, former Monroe County economic development director, to fill the newly created Deputy County Executive for Economic Development. He has also appointed long-time deputy director of planning and development Don McCord as the new Director of Planning and Community Development.

Borrello says his priorities include strengthening existing businesses, developing a strong workforce and implementing new ideas. He is also in the midst of his 100 businesses in 100 days tour across the county. Borrello has also created an economic development alliance, and an advisory council to develop new business strategies.

"We need to evolve and adapt to a changing society," said Borrello, R-Chautauqua County. "So that's really what the focus is. The focus is on re-organizing, re-branding and re-imagining economic development, so we can send one consistent strong message and utilize our resources in the most efficient manner possible. And ladies and gentlemen we are not reinventing the wheel here."

Both new positions still need legislative approval.
