ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Rochester man is accused of setting a vacant house on fire New Year's Eve.

The city's Arson Task Force has charged 22-year-old Hunter Curtis with arson.

Fire investigators say he broke into an empty Palm Street home, started a fire inside and then left without calling 911.

When fire crews arrived that morning, they saw smoke and flames coming from the second floor.

A second alarm was called for extra manpower due to single digit temperatures.

Curtis is in Monroe County Jail pending arraignment.
