GATES, N.Y. — A family gets their Christmas restored after a fire destroyed their home just before the holiday.

“I was like ‘oh my god’ he has three kids. I couldn't sit idly by and not make sure that these kids didn’t have a great Christmas,” said Bastards Motorcycle Club member and friend, Bobby Thompson.

The Malchoff family has seen an outpour of donations from the Sodus and Williamson community following the house fire Friday.

Tuesday night, the Bastards Motorcycle Club and Toys for Tots surprised the family of five with toys, money and dinner.

“As we're walking down the hall my son Brayden says 'this is the best Christmas ever,'” said father, AJ Malchoff.

“We're very proud of the work we do to help the community and to help make a child's Christmas bright because no child should have to go without a toy on Christmas,” said Toys for Tots volunteer, Sharon Beaky.

The Malchoff family is still looking for a place to live, but they are overjoyed at the amount of support and gifts that have come their way.

“It's amazing. I've been super blessed by my community in Williamson and Sodus and my friends in Williamson and Sodus. Everybody has been so gracious, so supportive, so giving. It makes me appreciate the friends that I have and the people that I know,” said AJ Malchoff.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family get back on their feet.
