WILLIAMSON N.Y. — Copper Ale House is a new bar and eatery that is getting a lot of attention in the town of Williamson.

“We started working on this in February, and we remodeled the whole place me and my wife Cheryl,” says one of the owners David Cooper.

The bar and eatery is the first one to open up following prohibition—up until 2004, bars and taverns were banned in the town of Williamson.

Both owners, David and Cheryl Cooper, owned a restaurant in Sodus Point in the past and after thoughts of retirement they both ended up back home in Williamson.

“We ended up coming back home," Cheryl said. "I was born and raised here and saw this building and we thought we would make a bar and restaurant out of it and start another business."

While Williamson residents could consume alcoholic beverages at home, the sale and distribution were illegal within the town. Looking into 2017, families are excited to see establishments like Coppers Ale House centered in the town.

From a community center, furniture store, and now bar David says he plans on sticking around.

The bar and eateries’ doors officially opened on November 27th. The Coopers say with an amazing staff they expect the business to thrive and become a staple in the community.
