With Thanksgiving just around the corner, many people are trying to find out how they can give.

The Rescue Mission of Syracuse, which provides food, beds and help for those in the community that need it, says it still needs help for the upcoming winter months.

Thanksgiving and Christmas are near, but members of the organization say it's not just those holidays they need help for, but every day. They say they need residents to volunteer to serve meals, but with the harsh winter here, they also really need winter clothing such as scarves, gloves and jackets.

"Some people are just outside all day long," said Rescue Mission CEO Dan Sieburg, "so as you're picking out a pair of gloves, maybe think about picking up another pair of gloves for the Rescue Mission."

The Rescue Mission says it serves around 1,000 meals on Thanksgiving Day.
