ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Crisis Nursery held an open House Wednesday night to give the community an inside look at the home built to keep families together in times of emergency.

“We're all human beings that need help at some point in our lives and the Crsis Nursery is the most perfect place,” said Elaine Spaull, Center for Youth executive director.

The nursery cares for more than 1,000 children a year. It's the only program in the city that provides free 24/7 care for kids that have family in crisis.

“I had a crisis, I had a breakdown and they were willing for my daughter to stay overnight,” said parent Lakeenya Love.

“We're not here to blame, we're not here to judge we're here to say 'we are in this together,'" said Spaull.

The Crisis Nursery has a capacity of six to eight children and a second facility is in the works to assist more families that need help.

“When I need someone they're the first ones to call,” said Love.

The nursery also travels to pick up babies and children in danger. Its emergency number is (585)-235-5750.
