SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Marching bands from across the state were back at the Carrier Dome Sunday, hoping to hit all the right notes.

Dozens of schools competed all day in the 44th annual New York State Field Band Championship.

The more than 12-hour day was split into three different shows, with bands from six different divisions.

Students say it was a long, but rewarding day.

"Coming together and having a performance, having everything work out, and spending the entire season, your whole fall season, your summer, just practicing. Having it all come together, it's just the best feeling there is," said Aidan Hughes, Greece Arcadia drum major.
